Treating tinnitus is incredibly difficult. Often, the only symptom that the sufferer experience is a ringing, buzzing, or high-pitched squealing in the ears. There’s usually no inflammation or other signs that can tell a doctor what’s wrong, so treatments end up consisting of trying different remedies. It’s far from the best system, but, considering all of the reasons why tinnitus can present itself; it’s often the only way to go. Fortunately, there are ten different natural remedies that tinnitus sufferers have experienced relief with.
1. Tinnitus Miracle. You have no idea how it helped many people with their Tinnitus. This natural remedy is one of the best out there. Click here to see what people say.
2. Ginko Biloba. This herb is a mild blood thinner, and known to contain several different antihistamine compounds. Considering that both allergies and circulatory problems have been implicated in causing tinnitus, this herb can help sufferers get natural relief.
3. Apple cider vinegar. Many naturopaths swear by including apple cider vinegar in the diet. This substance, when it is taken raw and unfiltered in a little water or juice, contains a lot of different beneficial acids, probiotics, and other healthful compounds. Some tinnitus sufferers have gotten relief by drinking it with water and honey once or twice daily.
4. Meditation. Meditation trains the brain to drown out distractions and focus. This can help tinnitus sufferers get past their condition, and have an easier time focusing and falling to sleep. Also worth noting here is White noise. Some sufferers find that having a fan, air filter, or other noise-generating machine in the room with them while they sleep helps give their ears and brain something else to focus on. While this doesn’t treat tinnitus, it can help people get to sleep.
5. Aromatherapy. Aromatherapy works by allowing the mucous membranes of the nose to absorb tiny doses of natural medicine found in essential oils. Rosemary is often recommended as an aromatherapeutic oil, but some sufferers also like to use lavender, chamomile, or other calming oils to help them relax and get to sleep.
6. Dietary changes. Some evidence indicates that inflammation can cause or worsen tinnitus. For some sufferers, changing to an anti-inflammatory diet that includes a lot of fresh fruits, vegetables, and anti-inflammatory foods like salmon and flax seed oil can alleviate their condition.
7. Acupuncture. Acupuncture is finally getting some acceptance in western medicine as a viable way to relieve symptoms like pain, nausea, and even tinnitus. Nobody is really certain about the scientific basis for why it’s effective, but many patients experience relief after trying it.
8. Homeopathy. Choosing the right remedy is tricky, however, so sufferers should see an experienced homeopath to get help finding the right one for them.
9. Hawthorn berries. The fruits of the hawthorn tree, or haws, are a known tonic for the circulatory system. Some sufferers for which the cause by circulatory problems get some relief after adding hawthorn berries or supplements to their diet.
10. Garlic. Garlic has been used as an herbal powerhouse for ages. It can treat infections, help the heart, and much, much more. Some people with tinnitus from a variety of causes have had good luck taking garlic internally, while some have even tried applying the oil to their ears.

I have been suffering from tinnitus for 4 years.Recently I tried my own theraphy i.e by listening to similar sound using my earphone for 20 mins and the ringing in my ear somehow actually stopped for a while. At least I have some peace of mind eventhough it does not last.
I have experienced tinnitus constantly for the last 27 years. Mine is caused by auditory nerve damage due to repetitive concussive noise during my time in the military (I worded with large artillery pieces).
With the exception of surgery, I have found that about 90% of treatments for tinnitus involve blood thinners and vitamin replacements; however, this method of treatment is for tinnitus caused by high blood pressure. My blood pressure is perfectly fine (in fact, it’s often a little on the low side), so obviously these treatments (INCLUDING the Tinnitus Miracle treatment as it is centered around vitamins, foods, etc.) wouldn’t benefit me at all.
I am not about to undergo risky surgery which can worsen my hearing if not done properly, often doesn’t work, and results in painful recovery and incredibly expensive hospital bills, so I ask you – does anyone out there have any information that could help a sufferer such as myself?
Ginkgo Biloba and melatonin are two things that I’ve been told to try, but here again they are primarily designed for reducing blood pressure, and with the reduction of blood pressure do most people receive relief. Same with meditation, lipoflavinoids, etc.
White noise just masks the symptoms and can actually cause damage in the lower range over time.
Alcohol consumption, while effective, can obviously lead to other problems and complications down the line (plus it gets expensive as well).
Any ideas? Tinnitus isn’t so much a disease as it is a response to an underlying problem, and in my case, that underlying problem is permanent auditory nerve damage due to being in the close proximity of repetitive atmospheric concussive compression.
Any help would be wonderful.
That should have said that I worked with large artillery pieces, not “I worded”…fat finger syndrome is another of my problem it seems
Your problem is quite common. Tinnitus is often a symptom of hearing loss, usually caused by noise exposure. In your inner ear, there are small haircells that send signals to the brain that register as sound. As loud sounds damage the hair cells in your ear, they start to “misfire” and send signals to the brain that shouldn’t be there. (think of a life wire that has been damaged…it sparks) These “sparks” are tinnitus. You should have your hearing tested. Chances are, you have hearing loss. In about 80% of people with tinnitus caused by noise exposure, hearing aids either reduces or completely eliminates it. That, and the added benefit that you will probably understand people better, especially when there is a lot of background noise.
Thank you for your service David. I have had this my whole life and just realized what it is. I never thought it to be normal and remember asking classmates as a kid if they had this, they probably thought I was joking. I have had some hearing damage also, some Gomer Pile pinched a snap-n-pop in my right ear when I was twenty and a firecracker jumped off the ground and got me in the left just a few years ago not to mention I played drums since age 9. Now at 44, I am on high a blood pressure med and one for cholesterol. I have been juicing fruits in the morning for the past 7 years, I eat a healthy diet and I am in pretty good shape for my age. I take take krill oil, fish oil, other supplements and thinking about trying the Ginko again. It is always there and most of the time I only notice it if it is quiet. Just something I have lived with. On days like today, I wonder what could be making it worse… In today’s case I attribute louder than normal music (two days ago) to it. I have no advise as of yet but just wanted to let you know, there are others out here. I hope you find relief soon.
I’ve heard noises for years…but it’s gotten worse lately when I started hearing “cricket” noises on top of the ringing. And then horribly…my 15 year old son asked me the other night “what makes your ears ring? I can hear mine ringing at night.” I’m going to start trying some of these vitamins and such with him…he is WAY too young to start this already!
i have a high pitch hissing in my head for about 2months now idk if its from an ear infection i had? mhad it in both ears it went away but the noise is still there could it be temporary? is it pressure build up? the doc at ent sas itll take time to go awaty but idk kind of worried and streesing over it any help will be great thanks

I have had tinnitus for over a year due to sudden withdrawal from doctor prescribed klonopin. I have found humming loudly, making sure the sound is ‘in your head’, and the tone is loud as you can make it, really helps temporarily. This clears the sinuses as well. Starting the ACV today.
I recently had an earache for maybe two days and since then I started hearing the noise in my left ear which had the pain. Just took my blood pressure 102/62 puls 48, live healthy and exercise, had it for the last month, hope this will be temporary, because this can drive you nuts!!!
Ever since i was a child i’ve had ringing in my ears, on and off sometimes after particularly loud bed times (6 younger siblings) but sometimes out of nowhere. i always thought it was “a part of life” as my mom described anything that she didn’t fully understand. bu recently it feels like its get
worse. (accidental enter >.< whoops) my hearing is more than moderately impaired in the left ear and the right one is sore. and to top it all off i also have to worry about if this new development is some weird progression of my Multiple Sclerosis (disg. 09') does anyone on here know of a {even temporary 20 min} way to alleviate the sore ears darn near deafness or pounding headache that has been the bane of my existence forng [with minimal success] hot or cold compresses
MS progression has been suggested to me…saw specialist @Mass Eye &Ear from referral from my MS neuro and my other migraine neuro~ he did evoked potential test and that SAYS that its migraine related but still isn’t ruling out MS
had tinnitus for 3 years, onions oranges make it worse, for me anyway. which is a bummer cause i love them. eating garlic brings the noise down for a while, pineapples also work to lower the ringing, teeth acheing lower back can give you tinnitus, and ive noticed some toothpastes seem to help, but after much trial and error still no miracle cure,
My husband got vertigo and his ear was blocked. He had his ear cleaned and some wax was released. He now has a low hum in that ear which has been constant for 3 weeks, this morning he said it wasn’t there when he woke up, and thought it was to do with the tightness in his neck, but an hour later has come back. Antibiotics didn’t do anything as there’s no infection. He has to turn the TV down, as it hurts if too loud, interesting. What are your thoughts?
